“누군가가 박스를 줍는다. 조립되고, 그 공간에 이삿짐이 들어찬다. 그들은 새로이 도착한 동네에 버려지고 다시 재활용(임대)된다. 이사한다. 버려진다. 계약완료. 누군가는 박스를 연구하고 복제한다. 이내 예술품으로 환골탈태하여 전시회의 주인공으로 우뚝서게 된다. 2주일 후 전시회는 끝이나고..”
‘임대용도’ 의 주인공인 무지갯빛 박스들은 같은 목적으로, 때로는 용도가 변경되어 다양하게 사용되지만 결국 목적지는 재활용쓰레기장이다. 반복되는 유랑과 정착의 굴레에 아웅다웅 살아가는 거대도시 서울시민들의 환경적응(박스활용)을 정육면체 박스의 시선으로 담담하게 추적한다. 사람과 공간의 관계를 넘어 사람과 사람간으로 연결되는 도시생태계는 그들 각자의 다른 중력감을 느끼게 할테지만, 조금 떨어져서보면 사람사는 곳 다 똑같다.
“Somebody picks up boxes. Then it is assembled and packed for moving on that space. They are abandoned in the newly arrived town and recycled(lease) again. Move. Thrown out. Contract completed. Someone researches and clones boxes. Finally, it became an artwork and stands up to the main character at the exhibition. The exhibition is over after two weeks and..”
Rainbow colored boxes a main character of ‘Use of Lease’ are used variously as a same purpose or changing usage but the destination is finally recycling dumps. This video calmly traces metropolitan Seoul citizen living with continuous wander and settlement through gaze of cube boxes. Urban ecosystem connected relationship between people and people as well as between people and space will give a feeling of different gravity of themselves. But, if you look one step away, people live in the same place.
