Discard the Machine

“나는 그 기계를 폐기하였다! 그 수트는 나를 아이언맨으로 만들지 않았다.”
‘그 기계’ 는 현대인의 전형적 삶을 대표하는 양복과 넥타이에서 기원한다. 이것은 내가 2년여간 입어왔던 그 삶에 질적 향상이 있었는가의 물음에서 시작되었다. 반복된 일상은 ‘김선우(본명)’ 를 기계화 하였고 ‘그 기계’ 는 아이언맨과 같은 치명적인 무기를 쥐어주지 않았으며, ‘그 수트’ 는 나에게 철갑옷이 되어주지 못하였다. 결국, 속도를 늦추며 반전의 기회를 노리던 ‘헤즈’ 는 그가 자살을 당하는 것에 일조하였다. 이제 나는 오직 하나이다.

“I discarded the Machine! The suit did not make me an iron-man.”
The ‘machine’ comes from a suit and tie, representing the typical life of a modern man. It originated from a question: “Has there been qualitative improvement in the lifestyle I have been ‘wearing’ for the last two years?” Repetitive daily life has turned ‘me’ into a machine whereas this ‘machine’ did not equip me with a fatal weapon (like that of an iron-man), and this ‘suit’ failed to serve as the armor that should protect me. In the end, Hez-who slowed down and waited for a twist of fate-has ended up helping himself to commit suicide. Now, I am the only one.
