하이테크를 통해 꿈꿔온 미래도시를 살고 있는 현 세대는 정형된 테크닉을 학습하며 업그레이드의 의무를 가지고 있을 뿐, 대중매체가 보여주는 것 만을 지각할 수 밖에 없는 눈뜬 장님이 되어왔다.
88서울올림픽은 외국 손님들에게 가난한 서울의 모습을 보이면 안 된다는 국가적 목표를 위해 그들의 남루한 실생활을 땅 밑으로 감추었다. 이것은 자본이 우리의 일상을 지배하는 곳에서는 언제나 드러나는 고전적인 현상이다. 20여년이 지난 지금 역시 이러한 현상이 이어지며, 88서울올림픽의 그 유명한 ‘손에 손잡고’ , ‘굴렁쇠 소년’ 만큼이나 비현실적인 비주얼이 녹화되어 도시미화에 일약하고 있다.

The current generation lives a future city of high-tech that they have dreamt. They just study stereotypical technics and have a responsibility for upgrade of them. That is why they have become blind who only recognise something that mass media shows.
When Korea took place the 88 Seoul Olympics, government hided the real life of shabby Seoul to underground not to show the appearance of our poor city. This is a classic phenomenon that is always occurred in places where capital dominates our daily life. Even now, over the two decades, this is continuing and unrealistic visual was recorded like the famous scenes, ‘Hand in Hand’ and ‘The Hoop Boy’ in 88 Seoul Olympics, playing an active part in beautifying the city.
